Grosse Pointe Blank-esque
War Inc. directed by Joshua Seftel, whose most notable directing gig was Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, steps out in his first theatrical feature film extravaganza with John Cusack, Hillary Duff, Marisa Tomei, and Dan Dan Aykroyd.
I pulled this little crapper from the sphincter of the Red Box down at Safeway, while waiting in line behind an anorexic version of Grizzly Adams. While Grizzly was reading through every… single… letter in each film’s description, while seemingly checking out the woman who crossed behind me, I gave up and rented my films 20 minutes later, when his simple mind had finally decided the lasted Steven Segal movie was totally worth renting. Go Under Siege!
So, at home and fully loaded with Mc Donald’s garbage, I sat for the film. I thought it was a sequel to Grosse Point Blank but I was wrong…this was a remake of aforementioned film. This film felt like they took a strainer, forced GPB into it with John Cusack kicking and screaming, strained out all that was cool and ended up with War Inc.
This film had a hard time standing on its own two for me. I couldn’t get the images of GPB out of my head. GPB was one of those films that catch you by surprise, a lot like Blade Runner, in the idea of a great cult film. It wasn’t a big release but was a gem to pull off the shelf.
So…the geniuses at First Look Entertainment set this redundant, drooling kid on the world and I had to watch it. I was dissappointed and would reccommend no one watching it…unless they haven’t seen GPB. Then you’ll love it.

For some reason, I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I guess it was just quirkier than I was expecting.
Well, maybe I’ll check it out. It’s not like John Cusack has had any great movies or at least entertaining since Runaway Jury, is it? So for a 2 I’ll watch it.
Ice Harvest was pretty good!
