The Lonely Island’s debut CD hit the shelves recently, and I was quick to pick it up, knowing that tracks like Jizz in My Pants, and I’m on a Boat would be on there. I was pleasantly surprised to see some older stuff that I had almost forgotten about, like the Natalie Portman Rap, and Lazy Sunday. The CD starts off with Who Said We’re Wack, and with lyrics like
Heard a rumor, that someone said we’re wack.
I think that it’s wack, to call someone wack.
I am not wack, no matter what you say,
What did you say? Did you say I’m wack?
it was hard not to fall in love. The production values are high, and all the vocals are full of over-production, just like a real rap CD, so it makes the incredibly lame lyrics that much more funny. Although I had heard most of the songs already, which I won’t soon tire of, a couple of the ones I hadn’t heard have become quick favorites; such as Like a Boss, and Sax Man, which features Jack Black doing his thing. If you like what you’ve heard of Lonely Island, you’ll really enjoy this CD. It’s a must have. A DVD is also included in the case, with eight music videos. It is sadly lacking a video of the Portman rap, which is a shame, because everything I can find online is edited.
There are 19 tracks, all of decent length, and with the DVD, you’re getting a lot of content for what you pay. I got mine for close to $12. Definitely worth it.
